Since I’ve been gone..

I’ve been a little absent for just over two weeks now! I’m sorry!

I have two cakes to share with you:

My mums 50th birthday cake which she was given at her surprise fancy dress party! The theme was Quentin Tarrentino films!
We dressed my mum and Dad up as Mia Wallace and Vincet Vega from pulp fiction. I was Elle Driver from Kill Bill and my sister another Mia Wallace. The party was a huge success!

My second cake I want to show you guys is a cake I made for a beautiful boy named Dexter on his Christening Day.

His mummy really loves the classic Winnie the Pooh and in Dexters nursery he has a wall sticker with the quote “As soon as I saw you I knew an adventure was going to happen”, so I felt including this in the cake would be quite special for them both.

The bumble bees were hand made with fondant and the grasses and flowers were hand painted on to the cake, I enjoyed this cake ALOT… I’ve slowly been loosing the love of cake making sadly, but this cake was enjoyable to make and hopefully may bring that love of cake making/ decorating back.

Last year was a particularly stressful cake year and it kind of removed all of the love from it. I panic a lot that people won’t like the cake, and then worrying that it may not taste nice… It’s just stress, worry, stress!

I think Pooh looked better before I put the eyes and nose one πŸ˜“. But I was happy with him and managed him first time!

The filling in the cake was Vanilla Italian Meringue Buttercream. This was the second time I had made this icing. It does taste amazing and so much nicer than typical Buttercream icing in my opinion, but gosh it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R to make!!

Any tips would be amazing as I’m not a pro at this icing ATALL!

I will do another post purely for this icing including my failures! πŸ™ŠπŸ™ˆ.

Happy Easter Y’all 🐰

  1. Those cakes are AMAZING! I love decorating cakes but nine always end up looking distinctly amateur. Am debating taking some lessons in cake decorating as would love to be better. These are beautiful, incredible! Am inspired – thank you for sharing.
