Pilgrims Rest – Battle

Sunday I met with my friend Hannah in Battle- East Sussex for lunch. Daddy was home with the kids so it was nice to be able to really catch up properly with Hannah, we used to work together at the Vets, now I’m not there anymore we rarely get the chance to get together so it was really special.

We went to Pilgrims Rest which describes itself as a Rustic Cafe. It’s lovely, I have been here once before with my old work lot to celebrate me leaving on maternity with Bunny!

The Pilgrims Rest is situated right next door to Battle Abbey.

There is a lovely outside seating area which we initially sat at, when we arrived it was cool outside, cloudy but not raining! After ordering our food it started to rain so we moved inside, the inside is lovely too.

I had The 1066 which is a warm cheese and onion scone served with Chedder cheese, coleslaw and Branston pickle. Followed by coffee and some yummy cake.

Below is the menu.

Visit the Pilgrims Rest site here for more information including the history of the place. Apparently there is a secret passage connecting the Abbey to Pilgrims Rest!

I really recommend visiting here, for lunch, cake or just a coffee. Staff are friendly and the food is lovely.

Battle high street is a lovely place to wander around before or after a bite to eat here! And obviously you can visit the Abbey and battleground. Visit Battle Abbeys website for prices and what’s ons here.
The Abbey is one place I love to photograph every year in December when they adorn the Abbey with Christmas lights ❤️
